Little Devlin's Place

Privacy Policy

About this site

Little Devlin’s Place (https://littledevlin.com) publishes personal stories, family history and travel content. This policy explains how the site handles information from readers and members. Last updated: October 2, 2026.

Membership and account information

When you register, we collect the information you enter in the registration form, including your username, email address and account credentials. We use this information to manage your membership, authenticate you, send account activation and password-reset messages, and protect the site from misuse. WordPress stores passwords as hashes. Administrators can see and manage account and profile information.

Your display name and any information you choose to make visible in your profile may be shown to other members. The member directory is restricted to members. Please avoid including sensitive information in a public display name, profile or comment.

Comments and uploads

When members leave comments, the site stores the comment and associated account information, IP address and browser information for moderation and spam prevention. Comments are reviewed before publication. Approved comments and the name displayed with them are visible to readers.

If Gravatar is used for a profile picture, a hash derived from your email address may be sent to Gravatar. Its privacy policy is available at Automattic. If you upload an image, remove embedded location data first; people who can access the image may be able to extract it.

Cookies and security

The site uses cookies to support login, membership sessions and site preferences. WordPress login cookies normally last two days, or two weeks when “Remember Me” is selected; logging out removes login cookies. Security tools may process IP addresses and login attempts to limit abuse. Spam protection uses a hidden form field to help distinguish automated submissions. Administrator two-factor authentication supports authenticator apps and recovery codes.

Analytics, affiliate links and embedded content

The site uses Google Analytics through Site Kit to understand how readers use the site. Google may process usage, device and cookie-related information under its own privacy policy. You can control cookies through your browser settings and review Google’s available privacy controls.

Pages may include affiliate links and embedded content such as videos, images or other media. Following an external link or interacting with an embed may allow that provider to collect information, use cookies and track interactions, including when you are signed in to its service. Those providers have their own privacy policies.

Service providers and retention

Hosting, email delivery and site services process information needed to operate the website. Account emails may include security information associated with a request. Information may also be retained when necessary for security, administration or legal obligations.

Account and profile information is stored while the account exists. Comments and their associated metadata may be retained with the site’s archive. Backup copies may retain earlier information until those backups are replaced or removed.

Your choices and requests

You can review and edit available profile details through your account. You can request an export of the personal data held about you or ask for its deletion. Some information may need to be retained for administrative, legal or security reasons. We may need to verify that a request comes from the account holder.
